Road Patrol Division

The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office has 8 full time officers assigned to the road patrol and enforcement division.  This consists of the sheriff, chief deputy, detective, and 5 additional full time deputy sheriffs.  We have a reserve deputy unit of 2 additional part time deputies who are vital to our overall operation.

We respond to a large variety of calls for service, investigate all types of criminal violations, serve Court and Civil process, investigate traffic crashes, enforce traffic violations, handle Court Bailiff and juror security duties, enforce all Court orders, offer various community and school programs, transport prisoners, assist other agencies, and patrol 538 square miles of Livingston County.

On average the road patrol division logs over 130,000 combined miles in the performance of our duties.  Our patrol fleet consists of well equipped police package vehicles and 4x4 pickups.  Livingston County experiences all 4 seasons Mother Nature offers, therefore we utilize resources to enhance our ability to reach, protect, and serve all of our residents and persons passing through Livingston County regardless of the weather or location.

Our staff strives for excellence in the performance of their duties.  We are honored to have a reputation for being well trained, equipped, educated, polite, courteous, and respectful to others.  We take significant pride in the relatively few incidents where we have been required to exercise an elevated level in use of force associated with our job.  In doing so we have often earned the respect of our inmates, citizens, other agencies, and the Courts.

This office welcomes all citizen input about our staff.  Most often we receive very kind words and appreciation for hard work and dedication.  On occasion we learn of displeasure or frustration and we respond in a diligent and prudent manner.  We know our way may not always be the best way to accomplish a project or overcome an obstacle. Therefore we also listen to, learn from, and work with our citizens and other agencies.

We strive to provide a quality service to all of our citizens and believe you should not accept anything less then a reasonable performance.
