Last week the LCSO spent significant time working on a variety of criminal investigations involving the reported theft of jewelry from two homes in the southern part of Livingston County. Deputies and the Linn County Sheriff searched a home in Linn County with the owners consent and were unable to locate any of the stolen items or additional evidence.
We unsuccessfully searched a section along U.S. 36 with metal detectors for some of the jewelry but the investigation has since led us to a residence in Kansas City, Missouri. We were able to recover a stolen bracelet for one of the victims and learned that additional item(s) had been there. Information obtained in the investigation alleges that one victim was targeted because she used to be employed by the Missouri Department of Corrections.
We arrested Rochelle Ann (Lee) Coltin, 43, Marceline, on a Livingston County arrest warrant for alleged class C felony Stealing of property valued between $500 and $25,000. Ms. Coltin remains housed in the Daviess Dekalb County Regional Jail in lieu of $15,000 bond.
On January 08, a deputy was on highway 190 traveling east near Route A and stopped a westbound vehicle for allegedly traveling 101 m.p.h when limited to 55 m.p.h. The deputy arrested the driver who was identified as Ben Wesley Cooper, 39, Brookfield, for alleged excessive speed and no proof of auto insurance. Mr. Cooper was incarcerated in the Daviess-Dekalb County Regional Jail in lieu of bond.
LCSO staff has remained very busy working on a variety of on-going criminal investigations, attempting to execute arrest warrants, transporting detainees to the Missouri Department of Corrections, assisting other agencies, 2013 budget issues, attending a variety of meetings, and spending time in and around area schools.
Yesterday we extradited Landie England from authorities in Sugar Creek on a Livingston County arrest warrant for alleged failure to appear in court on an original class A felony drug violation in or near a park. Ms. England was incarcerated in the Daviess-Dekalb County Regional Jail.
We currently have 33 people in the Daviess-Dekalb County Regional Jail, 8 of which are female detainees.
