Our staff is continuing to work on a variety of criminal investigations and the following is what we may share with you at this time.
On January 12, Deputy Jay Cooksey recovered a stolen safe from a pond near 190 and Thompson River Bridge. The safe had recently been stolen from a home in Chillicothe. The property was turned over to the Chillicothe Police Department and the investigation continues.
On January 09, we responded to a location in Chula regarding a reported domestic assault where a female was reported to be armed with some type of club and striking an occupied vehicle. The female left prior to our arrival and the investigation has led to the request of no charges being filed.
The LCSO has completed a reported rape investigation which is reported to have taken place in late December. The report is being submitted to the prosecuting attorney for review and direction at this time.
On January 11, we began an investigation of stolen property from a construction site outside of Chillicothe. The investigation led us to a location in Chillicothe and a suspect has been questioned. The Chillicothe Police recovered the stolen property at another location in Chillicothe. We are seeking an arrest warrant on at least one suspect.
On January 11, we began an investigation of a residential burglary which took place between January 4 and 11 in the North West part of the county. Stolen items include Ithaca 12 guage deer slayer shotgun with scope, Remington 12 guage shotgun with scope, Marlin .22 caliber rifle with scope, Marlin .22 magnum rifle with scope, Smith and Wesson Air Weight .22 caliber handguns, Kahr Arms 9 mm handgun, Primus game camera, Cuddeback game camera, lithium batteries, and other items. Investigation continues.
On January 08 we began an investigation of reported harassment to a person in Livingston County. That investigation is continuing.
Officers issued 4 citations recently to motorists being 2 for excessive speed (73 in a 55 on 190 and 88 in a 60 at Chula Jct. And 65), no valid driver’s license, and no headlamps.
On January 14, we served a Livingston County arrest warrant on Robert Henry Mammen, 59, Chillicothe for alleged class B felony DWI-Chronic Offender. Mr. Mammen is now incarcerated in the Daviess Dekalb County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bond.
We currently have 36 detainees in custody at the Daviess Dekalb County Regional Jail, 8 of which are female prisoners. We have at least 20 prisoners being transported to Court this week for mandatory appearances. DDCRJ will be doing all transports from their facility to/from Court.
