On January 25 we began an investigation of attempted stealing of metal from the Missouri Department of Transportation. The steel beams are valued at just under $1,500 dollars. The investigation led us to a residence in Carroll County where the sheriff’s office assisted us in contacting and arresting Gordon Eugene Ratcliffe, 49, Hale, for alleged felony stealing. Mr. Ratcliffe has been charged in Livingston County Associate Court and remains incarcerated in lieu of bond at the Daviess Dekalb County Regional Jail.
On January 27 we responded to South West School on a report of vandalism. Apparently no property was damaged and certain things outside the building we moved and/or placed in unusual locations.

On January 26 we investigated a report of an unusual item found on private property north of Wheeling. The item was a weather balloon which had been released by the National Weather Service in Topeka, Kansas on January 18, 2013. We have included photos taken by Deputy Cooksey and the item is being returned to the NWS.

On January 24 we began an investigation of stolen and forged checks from a Ludlow area resident. The investigation shows that numerous checks have allegedly been stolen and subsequently cashed in Livingston County and other jurisdictions in Missouri and Iowa for a large sum of money. We have arrested Quentin Blake Bassett, 18, Ludlow, for alleged Forgery and he has since been charged in Livingston County Associate Court. Mr. Bassett remains incarcerated in the Daviess Dekalb County Regional Jail in lieu of bond.
On January 23, we transported Anna Northrup to the Missouri Department of Corrections in Vandalia, MO on a Parole Violation warrant.
On January 22 we served a Livingston County arrest warrant on Michael Kamren Lent, 23, Chillicothe, for alleged 2 counts class C felony Assault 2nd Degree-Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated with Injury. Mr. Lent was released on bond pending the next Court appearance on January 30.
