Recently the LCSO took advantage of our jail being closed and stopped renting 3 storage units for about $1,500 a year. We moved all the old records and property from the storage units into the jail area for safe keeping. In doing so we went through the enormous stacks of paper work and were legally able to shred approximately 3 large pickup loads of old records that had been in our possession.
The shredded documents were such things as old bank statements, checks, jail activity and visitation logs, time sheets, receipts, uniform crime reports, and gun permits. Most of the records were from the 70’s and 80’s. All documents were confirmed with the State of Missouri as eligible to be destroyed.
