On January 31 we received a mandate from the Missouri Supreme Court to take Mark Woodworth into our custody from the Missouri Department of Corrections. We subsequently picked up Mr. Woodworth from the Missouri Department of Corrections in Cameron and transported him to the Daviess Dekalb County Regional Jail where he will be housed pending next Court hearing.
3 of our MOST WANTED persons were arrested this week. Frank Hildreth was arrested by authorities in Randolph County last night on a Livingston County warrant for alleged non-support. Catrina J. Springer was arrested on January 28 by Chillicothe Police on a Livingston County arrest warrant for alleged Bond Supervision Violation on original charge of felony Theft/Stealing. Damen R. White was arrested at the LCSO on January 28 on a Livingston County arrest warrant for alleged Probation Violation on original conviction of felony Theft/Stealing. Yesterday we have Associate Circuit Law Day in Judge Valbracht’s Court. We had 9 detainees here from the DDCRJ and staff reported all went well with exception of one detainee got mouthy with the bailiff after his friend was removed from the Courtroom for being a disruption and attempting to communicate with the detainee during Court.
The sheriff and deputies had a meeting yesterday evening. Many items were discussed including 2013 budget, equipment, investigations, assignments, community relations, patrol, school visits, training, Court security, statutory requirements, jail-inmate procedures, and other needs.
Yesterday, Sheriff Cox received an invitation to be on Anderson Cooper 360 with CNN regarding Gun Control. Because of other obligations the sheriff was unable to quickly return a call to the show staff to meet their deadline.
Results from our resent on-line poll question are in. The question was “Do you want the Livingston County Jail to be open and if so would you support additional tax money to pay for renovations and adequate staffing?” The results are 56.1% voted yes, 25.8% voted no, and 18.2% voted as being uncertain at this time. A copy of the poll results is being sent to the Livingston County Commission for review.
We have submitted reports to the Dent County Missouri Sheriff and an Iowa Sheriff regarding evidence and confession we obtained on a recent forgery committed in their jurisdictions.
This week our staff has remained busy on a variety of criminal investigations, assisting other agencies, and Court security.
We currently have 31 people incarcerated in the Daviess Dekalb County Regional Jail, 7 of which are female detainees.
