On February 24 we began an investigation of a scam which originated on a dating site on the Internet. The county resident believed he had been communicating with a female in another state and that she had went to Nigeria to assist her family. The local resident unfortunately was swayed into sending several money orders or wire transfers for several thousand dollars. The victim learned he may have been defrauded and reported the incident to us. We will forward this information to the proper federal agency, but there is little if any chance the suspect(s) will be caught or ever identified. Typically these scams take place from foreign countries where U.S. law does not apply.
On February 23 we responded to a call of domestic violence at a residence west of Chillicothe on 190. The investigation resulted in the arrest of Adam Woodworth, 34, Chillicothe for alleged Domestic Assault in 3rd Degree. Mr. Woodworth was transferred to the Daviess Dekalb County Regional Jail pending filing of formal charges.
On February 25 we extradited Frank Hildreth, 37, Huntsville, from the Randolph County Sheriff on a Livingston County arrest warrant for alleged 2 counts class D felony Non-Support. Bond was set at $4,800 cash and Mr. Hildreth was transferred to the Daviess Dekalb County in lieu of bond.
Our staff has remained very busy with a variety of calls for service and continuing with criminal investigations and assisting other agencies.
