Crimes, Arrest, and Other Information

Another area resident reported being contacted by a caller with an unlisted number claiming our citizen had won $5 million dollars on a Publishers Clearing House drawing.  The caller instructed the intended victim to go to Wal-Mart and purchase a $350 money pack and send to them in order to begin the process.  During the conversation the criminal reported this was legitimate and she could check with the Attorney General’s Office.  The intended victim properly responded that she was going to the sheriff at which time the call was terminated.  Our citizen did the right thing and was quickly aware this was a scam.  Hopefully no one else falls prey to these criminals.

Recently our office has responded to multiple calls at a location on Liv 2313.  A deputy was summoned there late one night after a female reported a man was intoxicated, bleeding, and refusing to leave.  The deputy found the male to allegedly be intoxicated, insulting, threatening, belligerent, profane, and was residing at that location.   Early this morning another deputy was summoned to the same location this time as the male had called requesting assistance as his girlfriend was basically being less then polite to him. The deputy determined there was no criminal act and left the scene.  The male reported he was moving to Chillicothe on July 12th; it is my opinion you will soon read about this same person in the Chillicothe Police Blotter.

We have completed an investigation in Avalon where a family alleges a man moved into a trailer without permission.  A report is being submitted to Prosecuting Attorney Adam Warren for consideration of criminal charges as no one was found to be at the home.

A different report of trespassing in Avalon was reported around midnight on July 01 that a man was trespassing on the victim’s property and refusing to leave.  The deputy arrested Forrest Wade Ivy, 39, Columbia, for alleged Trespassing 1st Degree. Mr. Ivy was then incarcerated in the Daviess Dekalb County Regional Jail.

A resident on Highway CC reported that between June 29 and July 01 someone stole their mailbox.  Investigation continues.

On June 30 we responded to a location in Chula regarding a reported dog biting a person.  The female victim reported while trying to hand her dog to her spouse another dog bit her several times on the back of the legs which resulted in a visit to the emergency room.  The animal owner reports the dog is current on vaccinations and we have contacted the Livingston County Health Center as required.

On June 28 we investigated a report of a dog biting a child at a different location in Chula.  The victim and parent informed the deputy the German Shepard was on the dog owner’s property.  The owner explained the property is posted to beware of the dog and the dog is kept on the property by an underground electrical fence.  The child received medical attention.  The information has been shared with the Livingston County Humane Society.

On June 30 we investigated a report of property damage to a storm door at a residence in Chula.  The occupants were gone when the incident took place and the damage most likely occurred between June 28 and June 30.  No other damage was noted and the home was not entered.

On July 03 we responded to a call in Utica of an intoxicated man who was refusing to leave private property on Nettleton Street.  We subsequently arrested Mitchell J. York, Utica, for alleged Trespassing and subsequently served him with a Parole Warrant.  Mr. York is being transferred to the Missouri Department of Corrections on the parole warrant this afternoon.

Our staff has remained very busy on a variety of criminal investigations, assisting other agencies, sharing criminal and drug information, and Sheriff Cox recently notified the DDCRJ staff of a tip where a detainee there was allegedly planning on violently assaulting one or more persons at the same facility.

Currently we have 39 people in custody at the Daviess Dekalb County Regional Jail.
