ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR POSITIONS OF DEPUTY SHERIFF AND RESERVE DEPUTY/COURT BAILIFF

The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office is currently accepting applications for the position of full time Deputy Sheriff. The successful applicant must possess a current and valid P.O.S.T. license, valid Missouri drivers license, typing/computer skills, excellent communications ability, able to handle stressful situations and multiple tasks, open to work a variety of shifts including weekends, nights, and holidays. Applicants must be willing to reside in Livingston County, cross train for occasional bailiff duties, assist with inmates, and other office needs in a teamwork approach of law enforcement. The position requires on the job training, handling and use of firearms, safely operate a motor vehicle in all types of weather and under extremely stressful conditions, and attending certified class instruction. Application process may require an oral interview(s), written test, psychological exam, physical, drug screen, high school diploma or equivalent, and background investigation. Livingston County provides a well-equipped take home patrol vehicle, 100% funding for L.A.G.E.R.S. retirement, all equipment/uniforms, annual vacation and sick leave, and employees contribute to C.E.R.F. retirement and employee health insurance. The annual salary approved by the County Commission for a road patrol deputy is set at $25,676 per year with additional monthly compensation from DSSSF Grant contracted through June 2014 making the annual base salary equal to $28,000 per year. The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for the position of part time deputy sheriff/court bailiff officer. The position will require all applicants to possess a valid Missouri POST license, which have no criminal record, pass a background check, agree to drug testing, physical, and have on the job training. The successful applicant shall also be assigned other duties such as serving civil process, making custodial arrests, report writing, computer use, dealing with physical violence and aggressive people, assisting with criminal investigations, occasional prisoner transports, and require active participation in a team work environment to help crime victims, citizens, and other agencies.
Livingston County authorizes reserve deputy pay at $12.34 per hour and part time employees do not receive any county benefits. The sheriff’s office provides all necessary equipment and training to maintain POST requirements. This position will average no more than 20 hours per week.
