Incidents and Arrests:
October 27 a deputy responded to a call on the highway of a possible reckless driver. As the deputy was approaching the vehicle on U.S. 36 west of Chillicothe he witnessed the suspect car nearly rear-end another vehicle. The suspect vehicle reportedly refused to immediately yield to an emergency vehicle and was finally halted at the Utica Junction. The investigation led to the arrest of Jose Pablo Gutierrez, 56, no address given, for alleged DWI-Alcohol-Aggravated Offender, bond was placed at $25,000 cash. Mr. Gutierrez was transferred to the Daviess Dekalb County Regional Jail in lieu of bond.
October 27 we investigated a report of domestic violence at a location in Avalon. Incident was only verbal in nature and no arrests were made.
October 27 we began an investigation into the death of a cow in the north east part of the county. Livestock owner was concerned someone may have shot his cow. Due to state of decomposition the deputy was unable to located an entrance wound to the cow.
October 25 we began an investigation on a report of a felon in possession of a firearm shooting across the roadway at a highway sign. Investigation resulted in the arrest of Quentin Blake Bassett, 19, Tina, for alleged Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, class C felony; bond was initially set at $10,000.
Last Friday we seized 2 horses from private property in the southern part of Livingston County. The horses were taken to a safe location and were to be examined by a DVM due to concerns of potentially being malnourished and/or abused/neglected. Potential criminal charges are pending.
Livingston County MOST WANTED Fugitive Scott Layton Nelson, 38, was arrested October 29 in Grayson County, Texas on a Livingston County arrest warrant for alleged class C felony Theft/Stealing of any Credit Device. When Grayson County has completed any charges in their jurisdiction then Mr. Nelson will be extradited to Livingston County, Missouri.
We currently have 40 people in custody in the Daviess Dekalb County Regional Jail, 7 of which are female detainees.
