July 24 we received a report of a phone scam as a group of people keep calling a Chillicothe resident multiple times a day from Kingston Jamaica. The callers have been attempting to swindle the surviving spouse into falling for a scam and becoming a victim. The citizen reports some of the callers have been verbally aggressive. Caller is obtaining a new and unlisted number and the information is being submitted to the proper authorities.
A different county resident reported that he has been contacted by multiple scammers attempting to swindle him out or money in selling an item on Craigslist. Typical scams that include wanting a 3rd party to pick up items and overpay via pay-pal and have the intended victim wire them the difference in money. Fortunately the intended victim was aware of scams but is frustrated at the large amount of communication he keeps receiving from multiple sources.
