A Livingston County detainee being held at the Daviess Dekalb County Regional Jail (DDCRJ) had requested being placed on a Kosher diet for religious purposes. Even though that detainee could not provide documentation to confirm such religious dietary needs with a Rabbi the request for diet was granted. On September 28 the jail staff noted on video surveillance the same detainee was eating food other then what is permitted on a Kosher diet from the trays of other detainees. The request for special diet has since halted.
Another Livingston County detainee being held at DDCRJ is the subject of a new criminal investigation as he is reported to have physically assaulted another male detainee. Safety measures were taken and the video and other evidence is being reviewed by the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.
September 28 a deputy investigated a report of property damage on Liv 247. Victim reported the suspect arrived at the residence and attempted to gain entry. During the time the suspect was present there was damage made to property there. Arrest made and reports submitted to prosecuting attorney.
October 01 a deputy assisted the Children’s Division with a report of Child Abuse and Neglect at a location in rural Livingston County. Deputy reported going with an investigator with the Children’s Division and they did not find evidence of child abuse or neglect.
September 30 a deputy served a Randolph County Civil Commitment on Victor Brian Winterbower39, Chillicothe.
September 29 an officer served a Livingston County arrest warrant on Jacob Luke Carter, 27, Chillicothe, for alleged Probation Violation on original class C felony of Forgery. Bond was set at $10,000 on case # 14LV-CR00346-01.
September 29 a deputy investigated the report of trespassing and property damage at a location on Liv 267. The investigating officer noted no observed damage to property from a neighbor on a tractor turning around beside the roadway of the complainant’s property. The actual area may be a right-of-way and additional information is needed from the complainant.
September 26 Deputy Sheriff/School Resource Officer Mike Lewis investigated the theft of a $180 pair of Nike tennis shoes from a school locker.
September 11 Deputy Sheriff/School Resource Officer Mike Lewis investigated the report of an assault at the Chillicothe Alternative school. Parents and School Officials are dealing with that situation.
October 02 the sheriff assisted another agency in locating possible witness(es) on a felony crime in another jurisdiction.
We are currently housing 41 detainees in the Daviess Dekalb County Regional Jail.
