Deputy Nicholas Leadbetter
On April 07, 2015 about 2:46 p.m. Deputy Leadbetter was south of Chillicothe on U.S. 65 as law enforcement had received calls reporting a Careless and Imprudent driver headed north on the highway at a high rate of speed.
Deputy Leadbetter found the car and checked the speed at 85 mph and engaged the emergency equipment on the patrol car to stop the car. The driver continued north on U.S. 65 at the elevated rate of speed and slowed near the City of Chillicothe to about 5 M.P.H. and was reportedly all over the road before coming to a stop.
The deputy discovered the driver was confused and determined a different course of action needed to take place. Deputy Leadbetter described talking to and helping this citizen (noting the driver was born in 1918 and from another county) with a ride to the LCSO where the deputy subsequently identified and contacted a family member. No citations were issued and the citizen was soon picked up and safely returned home.
We appreciate and commend the work performance of Deputy Nicholas Leadbetter and are happy this incident had such a positive ending.
