September 30 LCSO staff assisted the Chillicothe Police in searching for a reported missing child from a business area in Chillicothe. Deputy Dave Bagley located the child east of Chillicothe on U.S. 36. A CPD officer was quick to arrive on scene with the mother at the scene. The parent and child were very happy to see each other.
September 30 LCSO staff were dispatched to the Courthouse for a potential problem. It was determined a detainee was being unruly and profane. The person subsequently appeared before the Judge and was escorted to the transport van and returned to the jail facility. The individual allegedly told the sheriff and transportation officer she was going back to Turkey where she had rights and that she was not Iranian.
September 28 an investigation into a reported registered sex offender failing to properly comply with registration was completed. That person was reported to this office as having social media site(s) and the individual had not disclosed that as required by registration requirements. The registration has been updated and a copy of the report will be submitted to the prosecuting attorney for review.
September 28 an investigation of a reported registered sex offender failing to properly report change of employment was completed. That person is mandated by Missouri law to timely report changes of employment. The registration is now updated and a copy of that report will be submitted to the prosecuting attorney for review.
September 18 an investigation was completed into a reported theft of jewelry from a residence. A suspect was identified and that person is an associate of the reported victims. The individual reportedly returned the stolen property to the owner. At present time that victim is refusing to prosecute.
September 18 an investigation into reported animal abuse/neglect to livestock was completed. The farm operation had reportedly lost cattle and calve(s) for unknown reason. Investigation involved assistance from a Veterinarian and site inspections. The animal owner was given suggestions and guidance but the overall case does not meet criteria for animal abuse or neglect criminal prosecution at this time. The property/livestock owner was completely cooperative during this matter.
September 15 an investigation began into reported burglary, theft, and property damage at a building in the south east part of Livingston County. The owner reported unknown person(s) forced entry into a locked out building and removed several gas jugs and siphoned about 75 gallons of fuel from a vehicle. Investigation is continuing.
September 14 an investigation into an alleged sex crime was reported to this office. The LCSO is nearly complete with this investigation and the report will be submitted to Prosecuting Attorney Adam Warren for consideration. The LCSO has been assisted by the Child Advocacy Center in this investigation.
September 24 deputy arrested a 59 year old Hale man for allegedly driving while Revoked/Suspended and speeding at 72 in a 55. The man was processed and released on summons.
The LCSO currently has 51 detainees in the Daviess Dekalb County Regional Jail.
