October 04 an investigation began into a tire being slashed at a location in Chula. Investigation continues.
October 07 report of an old plow being stolen from private property. Investigation continues.
October 08 Deputy/School Resource Officer Mike Lewis began an investigation of a registered sex offender being on school property without permission. It was reported this is not the first incident with this person. A report is being submitted to the Office of Prosecuting Attorney for consideration of charge(s). (Note, suspect does have relative that attends the school)
October 08 Deputy Sheriff/School Resource Officer Mike Lewis received notice of a stolen pair of boots from a location at Central School. Investigation led to a juvenile that allegedly stole the boots and reported leaving the boots on a specific bus. The boots were recovered and returned to the victim. Juvenile Office is aware of the matter.
October 12 LCSO investigated report of assault in Ludlow. Adult male reported being victim of assault after being called names by a group of people. All persons were interviewed and no one wanted any prosecution.
October 12 LCSO began an investigation in southern part of Livingston County of several missing cows/calves. The LCSO is working with the Missouri State Highway Patrol Rural Crimes Task Force on this investigation.
October 13 began an investigation of theft from an outbuilding where someone removed a Stihl FS38 weed eater and 5 gallons of fuel.
October 14 a deputy conducted a traffic stop at Third and Locust Streets in Chillicothe and issued the driver 3 citations being for No Valid Driver’s License, No Auto Insurance, and No Valid Plates.
October 16 a Livingston County resident reported falling prey to a scam on Craigslist regarding the attempt to purchase a vehicle. The citizen had been requested to do $750 in Amazon Gift Cards on-line and the car would be delivered. When the car was not delivered the citizen reported the scam.
October 18 a Mooresville resident reported property damage, trespassing and possible burglary. Victim reported forced entry was made into the home but nothing is believed to be missing. Investigation continues.
October 19 a trash dumping was reported in the northern part of Livingston County. The LCSO located potential suspect(s). The trash was promptly picked up and disposed of properly.
October 03 arrested Larry Raymond Swanson, 72, Iowa for alleged Driving While Revoked, Failure to Register Vehicle, and No Auto Insurance. Mr. Swanson posted bond on the citations.
October 04 LCSO arrested Jennifer Voncille Burk, 25, at a disturbance investigation in Dawn, MO. Deputies learned Ms. Burk was wanted by Caldwell County on 2 misdemeanor warrants with bond total of $1,000. Ms. Burk was transferred to the Caldwell County Sheriff.
October 06 arrested Jayson R. King, 34, Iowa on a Boone County arrest warrant for an alleged misdemeanor weapon violation. Mr. King posted bond and was released with a Court date.
October 07 LCSO arrested Jenny L. Mull, 41, on a Dekalb County arrest warrant for alleged Probation Violation on original conviction of Passing Bad Checks-less than $500. Ms. Mull was transferred to DDCRJ.
October 12 arrested Alexander Scott Kelly, 18, Chillicothe, on a Livingston County arrest warrant for class C felony Possession of Controlled Substance. Bond was set at $5,000 and Mr. Kelly was transferred to DDCRJ.
October 13 arrested Jackson Samuel Anderson, 22, Kansas City on a Daviess County arrest warrant for alleged Failure to Appear in Court for driving while revoked or suspended and speeding. Mr. Anderson was transferred to Daviess County in lieu of bond.
October 15 arrested Zachary Ryan Kerns, 27, Chillicothe on a Livingston County arrest warrant for alleged Probation Violation on original conviction for child support violation. Mr. Kerns was transferred to DDCRJ in lieu of $17,000 bond.
October 16 LCSO deputy and a CPD Officer arrested Steven Brand, 35, Chillicothe on an Adair County arrest warrant for alleged Probation Violation. Mr. Brand was transferred to DDCRJ in lieu of bond.
We continue to receive several calls of various versions of IRS scams being attempted by phone in Livingston County. So far we have received word of anyone falling victim to these criminals.
October 05 Sheriff Steve Cox attended the town meetings in both Ludlow and Chula where area information was exchanged with the town leaders.
October 20 Sheriff Cox attended the Chillicothe R-II School Board meeting.
October 21 the LCSO currently has 49 persons incarcerated at the Daviess Dekalb County Regional Jail.
