December 28, 2015 the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) began training employees and elected officials in Livingston County outside of the sheriff’s office on use and deployment of OC Pepper Spray.

Sheriff Cox and County Commission had discussed ideas how safety and security could possibly be improved at the courthouse. The sheriff offered to have an OC/Pepper Spray Instructor provide 2-hour blocks of training for the all our county employees and elected officials for free.

Deputy Chris Mueller is our certified pepper spray instructor and is providing this training. Instruction includes discussion on proper use, techniques, personal safety, and deployment. The students will be exposed to a certain level of pepper spray and provided with a new canister to carry with them.
