April 19 the LCSO began a child abuse investigation with the Division of Family Services. This investigation has been cleared as being unfounded.
May 29 the LCSO began an investigation of domestic assault. Investigation shows adult female allegedly was very disruptive at family gathering and refused to calm down and cooperate. An adult female relative attempted to discuss the problem when an assault took place. Further investigation has taken place and several people have been interviewed. A report is being submitted to the prosecuting attorney for consideration of charge(s). The LCSO received assistance from the Missouri State Highway Patrol at the scene of this incident.
June 2 the LCSO began an investigation of harassment on social media. The suspect in this case is a former relative of the victim and we recovered 29 messages with many being profane and threatening. A report is being submitted to the prosecuting attorney for consideration of charge(s).
June 4 LCSO began an investigation of reported trespassing on private property near Wheeling. Victim reported they had left the home and soon returned to get something and saw a neighbor on their property near their home. The subject has been made aware of the problem and request of the property owners. No prosecution requested at this time.
June 5 a deputy checked a parking lot near a business in Chillicothe where we had received tip(s) of alleged drug activity. The deputy observed 3 people in a vehicle acting very unusual and attempting to hide from the deputy. Further investigation resulted in the seizure of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Three men were cited for the alleged possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. An additional search took place and a larger quantity of marijuana was seized from that location away from the vehicle.
June 9 the LCSO investigated a large trash dumping and discovered who the owners of the trash are. Further investigation revealed the citizens solicited someone on social media to take care of their trash for a fee. The employed people were supposed to properly dispose of the trash which they obviously did not. So those same folks got to pick up all the trash a second time on a hot afternoon. Land owner was satisfied with the outcome.
June 10 the LCSO is investigating a report of property damage and trespassing in north part of Livingston County. Suspect(s) drove through planted fields on private property multiple times. We have identified a suspect vehicle and investigation is continuing.
June 4 a deputy arrested Jennifer Voncille Burk, 28, Chillicothe on 2 Caldwell County arrest warrants for alleged total of 6 counts of class A misdemeanor of Passing Bad Checks. Ms. Burk was turned over to a Caldwell County deputy in lieu of bond.
June 4 the LCSO received a tip on a wanted fugitive. A deputy and CPD officer followed up on that tip and arrested Jason Ray Gerdsen, 36, Chillicothe on a Livingston County arrest warrant for alleged felony possession of controlled substance. Additional investigation took place and the CPD may have additional charges. Mr. Gerdsen was transferred to the Daviess Dekalb County Regional Jail in lieu of bond.
June 6 the LCSO was following up on a family disturbance investigation and subsequently arrested Marcy Ann Crowe, 34, Avalon, for alleged Driving While Intoxicated. Ms. Crowe was issued a citation and released to an area resident.
June 7 the LCSO served a Livingston County arrest warrant on Tara Renea Hall, 25, Utica, for alleged Probation Violation on an original charge of class B felony Drug violation. Bond was denied by the Court and Ms. Hall was transferred to DDCRJ.
June 2 a deputy stopped a vehicle for stop sign violation and issued the driver a citations for alleged driving while suspended.
June 3 a deputy issued a speeding citation to a Colorado man for 80 in a 65 on U.S. 36.
June 5 citation to Maryville woman for 81 in a 65, ticket to Illinois man for 83 in a 65, and a Kansas City man for 82 in a 65.
June 6 Sheriff Cox attended the town meetings at Ludlow and Chula. Then on June 8 attended the Wheeling Town meeting. Area information was exchanged with the city officials and those present.
June 8 the LCSO recovered an abandoned bicycle west of Chillicothe. The Free Spirit bicycle may be claimed at the LCSO.
LCSO currently has 32 people in custody at the Daviess Dekalb County Regional Jail, 12 of which are female detainees.
