Deputy Gives Citation for 103 on U.S. 36
August 1, 2016 Deputy Nicholas Leadbetter was on patrol on U.S. 36 near Highway D and checked 37 year old Kansas City woman at 103 miles per hour in a 65. The female driver was cited and is mandated to appear in Livingston County Associate Court to explain her situation.
From January 1, 2016 through July the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) has stopped 500 motorists for traffic violations as compared to a total of 520 total traffic stops in all of 2015. I believe the difference is because of more violations, higher speeds being traveled, and an increase in the volume of traffic on our major highways. It is not due to stricter enforcement by deputy sheriffs as we have spent about the same as last year on traffic enforcement grant overtime projects.
The LCSO is currently scheduling special traffic enforcement safety projects for traffic violations and DWI enforcement between now through September 6th. The deputies will be paid overtime from grants obtained by the LCSO from the Missouri Department of Transportation.
We are much happier when everyone gets home safely at the end of their day. Please drive safely.
