September 3 the LCSO received a report of mailbox was intentionally destroyed by unknown person(s) in the southwestern part of Livingston County. Investigation continues.
September 5 a citizen reported to the LCSO with a 3 year old child that was found walking in or near the street near the sheriff’s office with no supervision. The deputy worked with the Chillicothe Police and a parent was located at the Community Resource Center. A mandated reporter call was made to the Children’s Division and the investigation continues.
September 5 the LCSO began an investigation of possible Violation of a Protection Order. Investigation continues.
September 7 the LCSO began an investigation on possibility 2 juveniles were not attending school or being home schooled in addition to concern of the living conditions. Investigation resulted in further concern with a lack of any schooling and a call to the Hotline for the Children’s Division. Further investigation and services are taking place.
September 1-8, the LCSO has been investigating 2 unrelated juvenile sex offense reports where the victims and suspects are all juveniles. These incidents are completely separate and do not involve the same people. The LCSO is working with the juvenile office, Children’s Division, and Child Advocacy Center on these cases. Additional investigation and services continue.
September 2 Devin Kenneth Andrus, 18, Chillicothe surrendered to the LCSO and posted bond on a Livingston County arrest warrant for alleged Littering. Mr. Andrus posted $250 bond and was released with a new court date.
September 2 LCSO staff arrested Melissa Ann Jernigan, 28, Chillicothe, on an outstanding New Mexico arrest warrant for alleged Shoplifting of $500 or more. Ms. Jernigan was transferred to the Daviess Dekalb County Regional Jail pending Court appearance.
September 6 the LCSO served a Buchanan County arrest warrant on Delana D. Donoho, 33, Ludlow, for alleged failure to obey a judge’s order on original charge of driving without a valid driver’s license. Ms. Donoho was transferred to the Daviess Dekalb County Regional Jail in lieu of bond.
Deputies were geared up and in force over the Labor Day weekend as several staff worked traffic grant overtime projects focusing on traffic safety violations. Numerous vehicles were stopped for violations and several drivers were issued speeding citations for speeds from 10 to 25 over the posted speed limit.
September 8 the LCSO had 23 detainees from the Daviess Dekalb County Regional Jail appear in Circuit Court before Presiding Circuit Judge Thomas N. Chapman.
September 6, 7, 8, and 9 the LCSO was obligated to have enhanced security at the Livingston County Courthouse for various law days for both Associate and Circuit Court. This required up to 3 LCSO officers at a time.
On September 9 the LCSO was holding 32 detainees in the Daviess Dekalb County Regional Jail with additional detainee(s) expected to surrender to the jail over the weekend.
A deputy issued a Chillicothe man 2 citations for alleged No Valid Driver’s License and Failing to Register Motor Vehicle.
