January 6 Deputy Sheriff/School Resource Officer Mike Lewis filed a report with our office regarding problems with a parent getting their child to school.
January 6 the LCSO investigated a report of domestic assault which allegedly took place in a Wheeling residence. The investigation shows the male was not able to be contacted and the female had plans to stay at a safe location. Investigation continues.
January 9 the LCSO began working a repeated dog bite investigation in Ludlow. Allegedly this is the 2nd incident this dog has bitten a child. The most recent incident required emergency medical care to the victim. The dog has been euthanized and sent for testing. A report is being submitted to the prosecuting attorney for consideration of charges.
January 11 a deputy was assisting the Daviess Dekalb County Regional Jail (DDCRJ) staff in escorting detainees into and out of the Courthouse in Livingston County when the deputy witnessed a female detainee kneel near the transport van and pickup something. When confronted it was obvious that someone had hidden contraband in tissue and placed under the van. The item was confiscated and a report is being submitted to the prosecuting attorney. Jail staff was informed of the incident.
The LCSO is working a reported rape which allegedly took place several weeks ago in the south east part of Livingston County. The LCSO has collected certain evidence which is now at the crime lab for specific testing. The suspect has been arrested on an unrelated matter.
LCSO staff have checked the well-being of livestock at two locations in North West Livingston County. At one location the owner was feeding the cattle when the deputy arrived and the second location has resulted in a summons being issued for failing to maintain control of livestock. The owner has been notified about the continued fencing problems and additional measures may be taken if not promptly repaired.
January 6 the LCSO had 2 deputies receive custody of Terry NMI Thompson, 49, from the Saline County Sheriff. Mr. Thompson appeared before Circuit Judge R. Brent Elliott and was found guilty of Murder in the 2nd degree and Armed Criminal Action. Judge Elliott sentenced Mr. Thompson to Life in Prison for the murder and 40 years consecutive for the Armed Criminal Action. The LCSO had 2 deputies directly transport Mr. Thompson to the Missouri Department of Corrections in St. Joseph.
January 10 the LCSO served a Livingston County arrest warrant on Dylan Elijah Head, 21, Chillicothe for alleged Probation Violation on original conviction of class C felony Possession of Controlled Substance. Bond was denied by the Court and Mr. Head was transferred to DDCRJ.
January 10 the LCSO served a Livingston County arrest warrant on Stephan Duane Elliott, 39, Trenton for alleged Assault 2nd Degree. Mr. Elliott was transferred to DDCRJ in lieu of bond.
January 4 a deputy issued a 16 year old Utica man two citations, 1 for alleged passing a school bus on Fellows street that was receiving/discharging children and the other for no valid driver’s license
Currently the LCSO has 36 detainees in the Daviess Dekalb County Regional Jail.
This week the LCSO spent significant time on Court bailiff and Courthouse security details. Monday was Circuit Court Civil Law Day, Tuesday was Circuit Court Criminal Law Day, and Wednesday was Associate Criminal and Traffic Court day.
The LCSO plans on utilizing 4x4 vehicles this weekend due to the forecast of a potentially serious ice and snow storm. We prefer everyone shelter at home or a safe place and minimize travel.
