Sheriff Steve Cox attends Missouri Sheriffs’ Association Training

July 16 through 20, Sheriff Cox attended mandatory training in Columbia Missouri for the Missouri Sheriffs’ Association.

Training included courses on:

Preventing the Escape, the Tactical Movement of the Prisoner

Random versus Directed Patrol

Effective Fleet Management

Police Suicide Awareness and Prevention

De-Escalation/Crisis Management

Legal Updates

Detecting Signs of a Potentially Violent Individual

Mentally/Cognitively Impaired Persons and First Responder Awareness

Missouri Sunshine Law

Impact of Critical Incidents on Eye Witness Testimony

Anti-Racial Profiling/Fair and Impartial Policing

Sheriffs also heard from Missouri Attorney General Josh Hawley.

Missouri Sheriffs are required by law to obtain a minimum of 20 hours training each year from the Missouri Sheriffs’ Association or pay $2,000 to the State of Missouri.
