May 28 the LCSO requested assistance from the Chillicothe Police on an investigation on Clay Street in Chillicothe. There the officers subsequently obtained information on a fugitive and arrested Shawn W. Heaton, 41, on a Probation/Parole Absconder warrant. According to information sent by State of Missouri, Mr. Heaton is on probation/parole for felony Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Kidnapping-Facilitating a Felony. Mr. Heaton was transferred to the Daviess Dekalb County Regional Jail on the no bond allowed warrant.

Additional joint investigation then resulted in the search of the home and property where alleged methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were seized. Another person in the residence was also on probation/parole and has since been in trouble with his probation/parole officer for suspected drug use.

Two more people were identified in the home and due to LCSO K-9 Zaki unavailable at that time, the Missouri State Highway Patrol sent an officer with his K-9 to the home. Additional search took place with positive indicators and additional evidence was seized and secured pending identification and weight by the Missouri State Highway Patrol Crime Lab.

The LCSO returned to the home on May 29 to conduct additional follow-up investigation and secured additional evidence/information on the alleged felony drug crime(s).

Charges are pending on multiple people and the LCSO has requested mental health review and assist with possible drug treatment/counseling for people at the home.

Outstanding teamwork by 3 area agencies.  We also appreciate the work being done with & from Mental Health.
