Child in Diaper Wandering in Wheeling Leads to Court Appearance

07/05/2018

July 02 about 3:15 p.m. LCSO staff responded to a location in Wheeling where a responsible citizen had located a small child only wearing a diaper wandering around. This person attempted to locate a parent or guardian but was unable.

Investigation shows the child wandered approximately ¼ of a mile from home to the location found. The mother of the child reportedly did not know the child was missing.

The deputy issued a citation for the 31 year old mother to appear in Livingston County Associate Court on August 08, 2018 for alleged Endangering the Welfare of a Child-2nd degree. The information was also submitted to the Child Abuse Hotline.

Fortunately the child was not injured, but it was extremely hot outside.
