Incidents:

July 12 an identity theft investigation began and was closed on August 07 due to lack of victim cooperation.

July 29 the LCSO began and extensive investigation on a reported forcible sex offense where the adult victim was alleged to have been held and violated. Various people have been interviewed and the alleged suspect has not been in contact with this office except through an attorney and will not be giving a statement on the incident. The entire report including medical records are being submitted to the prosecuting attorney for consideration of charges.

July 30 a deputy stopped a vehicle on Liv 233 and Polk Street and subsequently issued a citation to a 21 year old Chillicothe man for alleged Supplying Intoxicants to a Minor.

July 30 the LCSO responded to a report of a person attempting suicide at a location in Utica. We found a person with medical care needs and that individual was taken to HMC and then on to a treatment facility for additional assistance.

July 31 the LCSO completed an incident report on a person failing to appear in Court on Driving While Suspended/Revoked and are now seeking additional charges.

August 02 we assisted in searching for 2 missing persons from a residence in Chillicothe. Both people were located by another agency and returned.

August 02 the LCSO completed a lengthy investigation of property damage to field, crops, and potentially other property which started June 24 in rural Livingston County. A person of interest has since been identified and the report is being submitted to the Prosecuting Attorney for consideration.

August 06 the LCSO began an investigation where a Utica resident had their debit card numbers used quite a few times in California. The victim has cancelled their card and had learned of this from their local bank in Chillicothe. The LCSO will work with the Attorney General’s office and authorities in California.

August 07 the LCSO worked on a call of several cattle out in the northwest part of the county. The deputy and dispatch had difficulty in locating the owner. Several cattle were out and the problem was subsequently resolved.

August 08 the LCSO was dispatched to a person attempting suicide in a garage in the southern part of the county. We found the home and garage all locked and could not reach anyone. Due to seriousness of serious injury/death a forced entry to the home was made and the person of interest was not located. After much follow-up investigation the Chillicothe PD was able to find the person at another home in Chillicothe and help is being sought for the person.

 

Most Wanted Updates:

August 10 we added Kerina L. Rhoton, 22, Chillicothe to our website, Ms. Rhoton is wanted on a Livingston County arrest warrant for alleged class D felony possession of methamphetamine.

 

Arrests:

July 28 a deputy stopped and arrested a Texas driver for driving 96 in a 65 on U.S. 36 near Mooresville. Michael J. Strobrietto was arrested for the extreme speed and subsequently posted $250 cash bond and was released with a mandatory appearance in Associate Court.

July 30 a deputy spotted a vehicle on Liv 256 which drew attention for a traffic offense and the vehicle was stopped on Polk Street in Chillicothe. Subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of Selena Ann Marie Mathews, 18, Chillicothe for alleged Driving While Intoxicated. Ms. Mathews was released to a responsible person and is scheduled to appear in Court on September 05.

July 30 the LCSO served a Livingston County arrest warrant on Adam Daniel Caudill, 31, Wheeling for alleged Failing to Obey a Judge’s Order on Bond Conditions on an original charge of class D felony of Stealing ($750 dollars or more of cash or property). Mr. Caudill was transferred to the DDCRJ in lieu of bond.

August 04 the LCSO arrested Tracy Nicole Mosley, 41, in Utica on 2 Livingston County arrest warrants for alleged failing to appear in court on 2 traffic infractions with bond of $100, and a class D misdemeanor of driving a vehicle without insurance with bond of $250. Ms. Moseley was also arrested on a Pettis County arrest warrant for alleged misdemeanor stealing with bond of $1,500. Ms. Mosely was transferred to the Daviess Dekalb County Regional Jail in lieu of bond.

August 10 the LCSO arrested Anthony Cates, 38, Illinois for traveling 96 in a 65. Mr. Cates posted bond and will appear in Court on September 26.

 

Citations:

July 23 a Michigan driver was issued a speeding ticket for 82 in a 65 on U.S. 36 near Wheeling.

July 26 a St. Joseph driver was issued a speeding ticket for 84 in a 65 on U.S. 36 at Liv 251.

July 27 a Chicago Illinois driver was issued a speeding ticket for 82 in a 65 on U.S. 36 near Wheeling.

August 02 a Kearney driver was issued a speeding ticket for 87 in a 65 on U.S. 36 at Utica.

August 04 a Kansas driver was issued a speeding citation for 90 in a 65 on U.S. 36 at Utica Junction.

August 06 a Brashear driver was issued a speeding citation for 47 in a 25 in Chillicothe.

August 08 a speeding citation was issued to an Arizona driver for 85 in a 65 on U.S. 36 east of Chillicothe.

August 08 a speeding citation was issued to an Indiana driver for 78 in a 65 on U.S. 36 at Wheeling Junction.

August 08 a speeding citation was issued to an Illinois driver for 85 in a 65 on U.S. 36 at Wheeling Junction.

August 09 a Kansas driver was issued a speeding citation for 79 in a 65 1 mile east of Chillicothe.

August 10 a California driver was issued a speeding citation for 80 in a 65 on U.S. 36 at Utica.

August 10 an Illinois driver was issued a speeding citation for 83 in a 65 on U.S. 36 and Junction CC.

August 10 an Illinois driver was issued a speeding citation for 82 in a 65 on U.S. 36 at Mitchell Road.

August 07 Sheriff Cox had a staff meeting with Chief Deputy Michael Claypole and Captain Sindy Fitzpatrick for about 3 hours on administrative, internal, training, and enforcement needs and concerns.

August 07 the LCSO transported and retrieved evidence to the MSHP Crime Lab in Macon.

The LCSO has been handling courthouse and court security on several court hearings this week. On August 08 we had only 6 detainees appear in Associate Criminal and Traffic Law Day.

Command staff at the LCSO have been busy working on legal updates and changes which will be required of the sheriff’s office effective August 28.
