On August 14, 2018 about 6:26 a.m. LCSO deputies were dispatched to a vehicle-pedestrian accident in Wheeling. A vehicle had reportedly been driving south on Highway B and an adult male wearing all black was walking in a dark area of the roadway and the vehicle’s mirror clipped the pedestrian on the arm. The driver checked on the man and gave him a ride home as he did not want medical care and then spoke with another person at the home.

LCSO learned the pedestrian and an adult female had previously been smoking methamphetamine and were “High”. The male was walking to U.S. 36 to watch the semi traffic. A search resulted in the seizure of the alleged “Meth Pipe” the two had been using and reportedly smoked all the methamphetamine.

The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital for examination of potential minor injury.  Charges are pending once the paraphernalia is examined by the Highway Patrol Crime Lab.

The MSHP investigated the accident.
