Poll Question and Results

Recently the LCSO website, www.livcoso.org had a poll question of “Do you believe it is okay for any person having marijuana in their system when breast feeding or donating breast milk for other infants?”

Of those who responded recorded the following answers:

5.8% said Yes but only if the marijuana is prescribed by a doctor.

4.9% said Yes even if not prescribed.

6.8% said only for her child, not to donate.

6.8% said they need more information.

75.7% said No, I do not believe it is right.

We had previously received information from person reporting they hot-lined this issue to the state regarding a chronic marijuana user and was told it did not meet the criteria for child abuse. This question was also discussed in the LCSO office and at a training conference.
