Today marks a very interesting date in history for Livingston County.  In 1837 the first Court was held in Livingston County, Missouri.  This took place at Joseph Cox's cabin north of Chillicothe which property is located along LIV 222. One of the jurors in that first trial was named Stephen Cox.

Joseph Cox is known as one of the first settlers of Livingston County and his cabin stood well into the 1900's.  Sheriff Cox and family actually reside on part of the original farm from the 1830's while his cousin Bill Thompson and his family actually reside on the property were the original cabin stood.
