Close Call from Possible Poacher

04/22/2020

On Monday morning Livingston County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to a location near the north end of LIV 237 regarding a house being struck by a projectile from a firearm.  Investigation shows two people were outside the home and a few feet apart from each other.  Both reported hearing a bullet buzzing past and a very distant gunshot.  The projectile struck the brick or stone portion of the home and fell to the ground.  Fortunately neither person was injured.

Missouri Department of Conservation Agent is assisting our office with the investigation.  Officers suspect the high powered projectile was discharged by person in the distance illegally using that type of firearm attempting to poach a wild turkey.  Monday was opening morning of Missouri Spring Turkey Season.

Anyone with information is asked to call the LCSO at 660-646-0515, dispatch at 660-646-2121 or leave a Crime TIP through our website at www.livcoso.org
