Today we learned about a SCAM that was nearly successful in targeting a local resident.  A creeper called intended victim claiming credit card had been charged nearly $1,200 and conned the victim into allowing the caller to gain access to his computer so that his computer would be cleaned of whatever virus/hacker did this.  Scammer obtained intended victims checking account information as well.

Our citizen nearly sent payment of $600 to the scammer.  Fortunately the intended victim quickly learned this was not right and the person was only trying to steal money and personal information. Bank was quickly notified and steps taken to secure identity and money.

These people are relentless and will try anything they can to get your identity and money.
