Floaters Report Being Stranded on Grand River

07/01/2020

The early morning of July 1, 2020 the Livingston County Sheriff's Office, Chillicothe Department of Emergency Services and Missouri Department of Conservation worked together to help 4 people stranded on the Grand River.

Apparently the 4 had floated on the Grand and found a sandbar to spend the night on.  Storm came up and blew away their rafts.  One of the campers called Emergency Dispatch and reported what had happened and that they could not get out of the river.  LCSO and CDES were sent south east of Chillicothe and were able to locate the stranded party.  Conservation Agent used his boat to put in at the Chillicothe access and get down stream and was able to retrieve the persons.

Due to the rain this took significant time to actually locate these people.  All involved did an excellent job of coordinating with dispatchers in getting these people located and safely out of the river.
