Beware of Scam Callers

09/29/2020

Many area residents have reported receiving calls from a person claiming to be an area law enforcement officer.  The scammer will tell you there is a warrant for your arrest, you are about to be arrested or issue with needing to conduct a DNA test.  All of the versions end with the scammer trying to scare you into sending money.

We have had several also call today regarding other types of scams such as their grandchild is in jail or the hospital and needs money immediately.

Consistently these callers want you to keep this absolutely a secret as they realize many people and banks may ask questions and intervene in the scammer ripping you off.

Area law enforcement does not do business this way.  We cannot take bonds over the telephone.

Please stay informed and be safe.  If you have actually sent money you should call local law enforcement, otherwise simply hang up on the creep.  Please understand there is extremely little chance your money will be returned once you send it or give out the card number.
