Stolen Vehicle and Pursuit

10/20/2020

About 7:16 p.m. last night LCSO was dispatched to U.S. 36 as a stolen 2019 Ford from Brookfield had been stolen and was traveling at a high rate of speed west bound into Livingston County.  One of our deputies was on U.S. 36 near Utica where one lane is open in construction area when this vehicle came up behind him very fast and nearly rear-ended our deputy.  The stolen vehicle went into the media and then continued westbound at a high rate of speed and would not stop for the deputy and was later observed passing other vehicles by taking the median.

Missouri State Highway Patrol had spike strips deployed at location(s) in Caldwell County and the stolen vehicle was able to elude other vehicles on the roadway and also the spike strips.  A spike strip caught one tire of our patrol vehicle and which ended our involvement.

See MSHP and Brookfield PD for any additional details.  Our understanding is the vehicle has been located somewhere in Kansas.  Fortunately no one was injured here.

If you have information on who may be responsible for stealing that vehicle please call your local law enforcement agency or the Missouri State Highway Patrol.  TIPS can always be sent through our website at www.livcoso.org.
