The Livingston County Sheriff's Office has investigated an incident on social media where a local citizen's account was hacked and information sent to others about getting money for acknowledging the message.  One resident was ultimately scammed out of $200 from this activity as money ended up being transferred online.  The local resident who had their social media account hacked had nothing to do with the scam and was unaware of the account being hacked at the time.

The people responsible for this crime are most likely overseas and outside of prosecution in the United States.  This is just another version the creeps use to steal from our citizens.

Please be cautious when receiving similar notices online or on social media.  As usual when something sounds too good to be true it most likely is.
