On the evening of Sunday, October 02, 2022 the LCSO Sgt. Dustin Woelfle was dispatched to an incident in Chula.  It was alleged an individual dropped a bag containing the firearm off at a location in Chula and then created some type of disturbance at a neighbors there.

Investigation shows the bag contained a .357 handgun which had allegedly been taken without the owner's consent from a home where the suspect had been staying.  Investigation resulted in the arrest of Marty James Thorne, 52, Chula for alleged class D felony Stealing a Firearm and class D felony Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person.

Mr. Thorne was incarcerated in the Caldwell County Detention Center and today, October 03 an arrest warrant was issued in Livingston County Associate Court for Mr. Thorne on the same two allegations.  The arrest warrant is case #22LV-CR00539 and the court initially denied bond on the warrant.
