Extreme Speeder Stopped During Labor Day Traffic

09/05/2023

Labor Day, September 04, 2023 at 4:45 p.m. LCSO Deputy Caleb Smith was working and happened to see and check a Ford Fusion running 110 MHP on U.S. 36 passing all other traffic.  Deputy Smith was able to finally get the vehicle to stop on U.S. 36 near LIV 251.  The juvenile Kansas driver was cited for the violation and family informed of the issue.  The juvenile must appear in Livingston County Court October 18 at 9:00 a.m.

Note:  At 116 MPH a vehicle is moving at 161.33 feet per second.  Add being an inexperienced out-of-state driver on a major U.S. Highway with Labor Day traffic and consider the dangers to everyone on the roadway.

Great work Deputy Caleb Smith!  We love it when everyone gets home safe.
