Paper Service Attempt Leads to MUCH More

Endangering the Welfare of a Child Arrests
On August 8th, 2024, Deputy Taylor West was attempting a paper service in the 700 block of Vine Street in Chillicothe when she observed concerning living conditions at a residence where several young children were living.
On August 9th, 2024, Deputy West, with the assistance of the Chillicothe Police Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol and Children's Division served a search warrant on the aforementioned residence where various disturbing safety hazards were located. Three children were removed from the residence as a result of the investigation and two adults were arrested.
Curtis Burton, 34 and Misty Miller, 34, both of Chillicothe were arrested as a result of the investigation and placed in the Caldwell County Detention Center. Within 24 hours, warrants were issued on both individuals for Endangering the Welfare of a Child Creating Substantial Risk in the First Degree First Offense No Sexual Contact. Both individuals remain incarcerated with bond set at $2500 cash only on each.
Great job by Deputy West and the officers and troopers who assisted on this investigation.
